Tornado Touches Down in Claremore, Oklahoma
May 26, 2024 Update: EF2 Tornado Confirmed
Overnight Storm Brings Destruction to Oklahoma Town
On Sunday, May 26th, 2024, at approximately 140 am, a severe storm system swept through northeastern Oklahoma, bringing with it a series of tornadoes.
According to initial reports, one tornado of at least EF2 strength struck the town of Claremore, located approximately 30 miles east of Tulsa. The National Weather Service (NWS) Tulsa survey team has since confirmed the presence of EF2 tornado damage in the area.
Tragically, two fatalities have been reported as a result of the tornado. Emergency crews are currently on the scene, assisting with search and rescue efforts and assessing the damage.
